Dear all,

I would like to request how to install Debian & DA installation guide. i.e., I would like to have step by step installation for clean install. What kind of the packages I should install during the first installation. After I finished the clean install, I should do anything else before run the DA script setup.sh?

Please kindly advise. Thanks!

Lawrence

You don't really need anything special for Debian i think. I just installed DA on a fresh debian install.
Just run setup.sh and it will install everything for you.
Afterwards i just did an apt-get -f install to fix the broken dependencies

Thanks for your qucik reply. Did you install any Server package during 1stinstallation (e.g. Mail, Web, FTP)?

no
you don't need that because DA will install it during the install process.

Ok..thank you very much!

Did you install any add-on program after directadmin? such as clamav, spamssian etc? If yes, could you have anu reference link, so that I could follow it....sorry to any inconvenience due to my stupid linux newbie. Thanks!

:)

Just make sure to install development tools (gcc and so on), which are needed by customapache.

On my installation this will remove the exim-package that DA installed:

web1:~# apt-get -f install
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Correcting dependencies... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
exim4-base exim4-config exim4-daemon-light
Suggested packages:
eximon4 exim4-doc-html exim4-doc-info
The following packages will be REMOVED:
exim
The following NEW packages will be installed:
exim4-base exim4-config exim4-daemon-light
0 upgraded, 3 newly installed, 1 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 1426kB of archives.
After unpacking 3060kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] n
Abort.

So basically it seems I'm stuck with an unupgradeable system, which I don't like very much. :(

(Why can't DA just use debians exim-package?)
