I have just put Exim release 4.62 on the primary ftp site:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-4.62.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-4.62.tar.bz2

- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This release is happening mainly to fix some bugs. There are in addition a couple of small functional extensions. The manual has been brought up-to-date with all the changes since 4.61.

As usual, all changes are in the doc/ChangeLog file. See also the README.UPDATING file for changes that might impact on some installations.
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary ftp server is in Cambridge, England. There is a list of mirrors in:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/Mirrors

The distribution files are signed with Philip Hazel's GPG key, which is available on the ftp site and on a number of keyservers. The signature files are in the same directory as the tarbundles. The MD5 hash codes for the distribution files are:

4142642dade5c24154ef2ea2ba562b12 exim-4.62.tar.gz
a8efc92427192fd3b7b5e71decc8cc31 exim-4.62.tar.bz2

The distribution contains an ASCII copy of the 4.62 manual and other documents.
Other formats of the documentation are also available:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-html-4.62.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-pdf-4.62.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-postscript-4.62.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-texinfo-4.62.tar.gz

The .bz2 versions of these tarbundles are also available.

The HTML documentation contains the FAQ and configuration samples. These are also available separately in HTML or txt format from the ftp site:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/FAQ-html.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/FAQ.txt.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/config.samples.tar.gz

Note that the FAQ is gradually being superseded by the wiki.

The ChangeLog for this, and several previous releases, is included in the distribution. Individual change log files are also available on the ftp site, the current one being:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/ChangeLogs/ChangeLog-4.62
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/ChangeLogs/ChangeLog-4.62.gz

Brief documentation for new features is available in the NewStuff file in the distribution. Individual NewStuff files are also available on the ftp site, the current one being:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/ChangeLogs/NewStuff-4.62
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/ChangeLogs/NewStuff-4.62.gz

The Exim Test Suite is available for use on other hosts:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/Testing/exim-testsuite-4.62.tar.bz2

Enjoy.

I emailed John about this this morning, he's got the SRC rpm's already up.

Hello,

Thanks, added src rpm and freebsd/debian binaries to files.directadmin.com/services

Thank you,

John

Greetings guys,

wondering if you guys can plz post a working DA + exim config here or a link where i can gt one as i cant seem to get mine working :(

Code:
wget [url]http://files.directadmin.com/services/da_exim-4.62-1.src.rpm[/url]
rpm -ivh da_exim-4.62-1.src.rpm
cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
rpmbuild -bb exim.spec
cd /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386
rpm -Uvh da_exim-4.62-1.i386.rpm
service exim restart

Worked like a charm.

I had no luck with this release on a RH# box. I had problems communicating with some qmail servers as my Exim was disconnecting them.

yes in case you installed rpm libs & depends
then --force and --nodepends & probably need to reboot

For all, think this is a challenge :

I'd like to see the script with the tarball source, which could help more people, and probably would be cleaner.

Is it the rule here to *NOT* help but say *it work on my comp* ?

Only a few people here post working script/solution and write how-to ;-) for us newbies with no experience.

I'm not sure if you are talking to me, but I did exactly what I posted. I created the rpm from the src rpm, installed it and restarted exim, after verifying the settings in exim.conf were still intact.

Not too tough I didn't think.

what you wrote is very good for the rpm's people, but we need source how-to to !
Also scripters, wake up ;-)

From what I see, you are use FC3, which is rpm based. Why don't you want to use the RPM? If you really want to see the source, install the src.rpm and look in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCE, in there you will see the tarball for exim as well as all the DA supporting modules, such as exim.pl, exim.conf,... If you understand the layout of the RPM spec file, you can read the /usr/src/redhat/SPEC/exim.spec file and see everything it is doing.

Unless you are on Debian or FreeBSD, I see no reason at all for not using the RPM's, especially if you are a "newbie with no experience".

toml,

just see a few reasons :

rpm will provide some (errors) messages and not install like :
rpmbuild :unknown command
directory does not exist
libxxso & other fault ....

what should we do ?
first again and again search, read forum ?
always 'yum update' something we don't understand ?
what about wrong version ?

When some(one) made a good how-to script, we can copy paste in ssh, and most of the time it is without errors.

Thinking the one could build a SOS service for DA/FC3 could win some bucks.

Even the files.directadmin.com/... has not up2dates files and sometimes errors in example : http://files.directadmin.com/services/customapache/configure.apache_ssl with old directive 1.3.34

WE ARE LOST ! WE NEED REAL HELP !

excuse me for crying, but i think something like that sos
