Just installed Dovecot and getting a webmail error

Hi I just installed Dovecot on my system and it seemed to install fine.

When i try to log into squirrelmail I gat an error "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server." it throws the same message when i try to check it through outlook. pop works

I check the message log and there was nothing and i checked the mail log which has the following lines in it

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Turns out a rebooted the system and the error message has went away... does anyone know what would have caused this?

means that you got it fixed by a reboot as well. Is this correct? It appears that the dovecot install can't run the IMAP and/or POP daemon because it hasn't succeeded in killing the old daemons on the same port.

I had this too, after updating dovecot from 1.0.3 to 1.0.5 with custombuild.

Squirrellmaili showed:

I stopped the dovecot service
and started it 3secs later.

All works now


tip: maybe this start and stop should be added to the custombuild script =)
(maaaybe have it check the webmail page to look for the word error or imap ^_^)
