Is it possible to backup and restore using "Admin Backup/Transfer" from a CentOS 4 into CentOs 5?

What worries me is the mail. The new installations uses Dovecot (probably better) so will that interfer?

To do so, should I set new CentOS 5 server on a seperate IP, restore and then Change the IP? Or better of changing old box into a temporary IP and port them to new box with current IP?

Should work fine; it does for us.

No. The restore will do the switch to Dovecot automatically.

Either way works. The way I'd do it is restore the backup on the new machine with a new IP#.

Then when you're done switch the nameservers at your registrar, to the new IP#.
