This is a question of mine that probably is meaningless... but what is the best location to install Whois.Cart for those of you who have dealt with thsi before?

Would http://<servername>/whoiscart work? This would be located in the /var/www/html/whoiscart folder.

OR

Should I create my own reseller account in DirectAdmin and inside of my virtual hosting account create the whoiscart directory there and install it from there?

I appreciate the help!

The above example will work fine. In fact this is how a good percentage of users install it.

I assume the people who do that also put their main business page in the /var/www/html directory as well rather than creating a DA virtual hosting account for it...? Cause i was wondering if someone did that how would they be able to manipulate their main account through DA then or would that just be impossible at that point? (Administering an account through DA when the account is located in /var/www/html?)

I do mine in the /home/admin directory that way I can manage it through DA and get all of the features as well as easy backup/restore access without having to try and remember where all my files were.

One thing which is very important, is that your final.php page should point to https. The final.php page is the page where your customers will be entering all of his/her personal and financial information.

When I licenced my Whois Cart, I couldn't get it to work with https at all. The reasone is because of the directory specificness of the licence.

DA's default location for https is located in the private_html folder and not the public_html folder.

I tried using a symlink for https but that also did not work. Although the symlink meathod did work for other files not related to the Whois Cart.

So is what I had to do is make the public_html folder the default folder for https.

To find out how, please read this thread.

Are you guys using Whois.Cart to setup a payment system for web hosting services/accounts -- or are you actually using it to sell goods?

I'm stuck between different 'shopping cart systems' to use to sell my web service packages.

Someone please let me know. I've done a lot of research, but need to make a decision which is agreeable with directadmin.

Whois Cart is used to bill your web hosting customers, auto-magically provision your new web hosting customer's, and to sell and administer domain names, all in one inexpensive package which can be skinned to look like the rest of your site. It also allows you to create coupons for web hosting and domain names.

The only downside to the software is the documentation.
But on the other hand they do have a forum which you should be able to find most of the answers to questions you may have.

If you are not used to coding in php to change the look, then it will be more difficult for you at first. But on the other hand their is no rule that says that you have to change the look of it if you don't have the time or just don't care. Sometimes I wish I didn't care.

If you think about it, when you order a service such as hosting I think most people don't care about what the site looks like. You just care about the price, quality of service and speed at which your product and services are delivered. That has been my experience anyway.

Overall I think Whois Cart is a great choice for web hosting.
The time it takes to figure out how to customise it may not be right for you if you are a PHP beginner. You have to be willing to put in the time and learn. Not realy the PHP so much but how the pages connect and interact with each other.

Well I hope this gives you a better overveiw of the product.
Good luck -Jason :D
