Since the installation of directadmin, some services are not working at all. The message system and create backups for example.

All services under Service Monitor are running normal.

I looked in a dozen log files and figured out that for some reason yum erased a lot of services.

As you can see, some were installed again, most were not. Strangely enough some of messages are also echoed in /var/log/messages

As a pretty newbee, I am not really sure whether I just have to yum install these services in CentOS (6.2 x64) to get my DirectAdmin working as it should? Help would be really appreciated.

Ai, I see my previous reply didn't make it through the forum. I hate these random questions you have to fill in if you want to post a message.

I don't receive messages from my DirectAdmin panel. For example: when someone tries to do a Brute Force Attack for the 100th time.
Cron jobs also don't work
Backups / restore function doesn't work at all.

It's pretty nasty.

As you can see I have installed the Brute Force Monitor by the DirectAdmin manual.
I also upgraded PHP to version 5.3.12.

The random question appear just untill a moderator / admin check you as real user, sorry but is for prevent spammers.

1 - Check which email is set to the system message center (top right). Check if mail server is working, check logs
2 - How can you say they doesnt work? How cron would be related to DA? It is just system related
3 - As ive asked.. why it doenst work? How can you say that? What did you tryed?

And, most important, did you reade guide? http://help.directadmin.com and www.site-helper.com?

BFM is not get installed manually, the scripts to make action are made manually, BFM exist as default.

Regards

Thanks for the quick reply.

The email address in the message system is okay. But it's not that I only don't get an email. But there are no messages appearing in the message system when I start a backup of a user account.

I've just tried to make a backup via: Admin Backup/Transfer > selected a user and checked the location (/home/admin/admin_backups) and submitted.

When I login with ssh, there are is nog .tar.gz file appearing (nor a folder that indicated that DirectAdmin is processing the backup) in the folder /home/admin/admin_backups.

And there are no messages appearing in the Message System (0 new)

There is an old backup of may 6. But I can't remember how that got there. :(

I don't see a way to edit my forum message.

Anyway, I've just checked some logs:

Apache error log:
[Thu May 10 16:47:58 2012] [error] [client 61.51.18.235] File does not exist: /var/www/html/user
[Thu May 10 16:47:58 2012] [error] [client 61.51.18.235] File does not exist: /var/www/html/404.shtml

The latest logs from /var/log/cron dates from April 26

The backup is not immediate, but should be that cron isnt working and so backup arent starting.

Please post out for those commands:

Code:
cat /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue

Code:
cat /etc/cron.d/directadmin_cron

Code:
ps aux | grep crond

Ok, your cron isnt running.

run:

Code:
> /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue
/etc/init.d/crond restart

then again post output for:
Code:
ps aux | grep crond

Regards

Could you tell me (for my understanding) what > /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue does/means?

crond restart gives: bash: /etc/init.d/crond: No such file or directory

It's simply removed. (like in my first post: removed by Yum) But I just don't know why or how?

I think there's more missing. Can't I just simply install the missing things with yum install, or does this conflict with DirectAdmin?

This is what's installed:
root@d1:/etc/init.d ssh$ ls
auditd exim iptables messagebus netconsole rdisc udev-post
da-popb4smtp functions iptables.backup mysqld netfs single
directadmin halt killall named network sshd
dovecot httpd mdmonitor named.back proftpd startips

Regards!

Sorry, tabs got messed up:
etc/init.d$ ls -1

auditd
da-popb4smtp
directadmin
dovecot
exim
functions
halt
httpd
iptables
iptables.backup
killall
mdmonitor
messagebus
mysqld
named
named.back
netconsole
netfs
network
proftpd
rdisc
single
sshd
startips
udev-post

the line you asked remove everything in the specified file, cause there was 5 backup request in it.

ok so, install it

Code:
yum install crond -y

Regards

That should be

yum install crontabs
yum install anacron
yum install vixie-cron

I believe, but not crond

thnx guys

I was already googling because crond wasn't working.

I think the hosting company installed the CentOS 6.2 minimal version. Do you know if there are other services that I need to install to let DirectAdmin work properly?

Cheers!
