Roundcube 0.8 released

There's a new skin. Looks interesting.

Hello folks,

We're proud to finally announce the release of version 0.8 with the
brand new skin, codename "Larry", becoming the new default UI for
Roundcube. After two preview releases and a lot of fine-tuning, the
new design by http://bueroflint.com has now grown up. But to all the
nostalgics out there: don't worry! The old skin still remains part of
the package and will be maintained for at least one more major
release.

Beside the new UI, this version also contains more bugfixes and
mprovements (see ) as well as some code refactorings. Another major
change since the last stable release is the updated license which is
now GPL v3+ with exceptions for skin & plugins. Read more about that
on http://roundcube.net/license

After lots of testing and collecting your feedback, this version is
considered stable and we recommend to update all productive
installations of Roundcube. Get the new version from

Finally, some important notes for sysadmins to deploy the new Roundcube:

* The new skin brings an entirely new look to the webmail application.
Please carefully plan a roll-out of the new version and prepare your
users accordingly.

* We're getting a lot of support requests from users who are under the
impression that Roundcube is a public service such as Gmail or
Hotmail. Unfortunately we cannot help these people and thus we'd like
to encourage everybody to do some branding on your Roundcube
installation. You can replace the logo by config (option 'skin_logo')
and even more important: the new release now has an option named
'support_url' where everyone should fill in an URL to instructions how
to get help for that specific installation of Roundcube.

And last but not least: our recent partnership with the Kolab
Groupware project is finally showing some results. The Kolab team just
published a preview release of their all-new Kolab 3.0 groupware suite
including Roundcube as the new web client. Enriched with nice new
plugins, Roundcube gives easy access to all relevant groupware
functions. Read more about Kolab at

I've updated to this version but some users are getting the following error when trying to login:

SERVICE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE! Error No. [501]

roundcube log says:

PHP Error: Error loading template for login in /var/www/html/roundcubemail-0.8.0/program/include/rcube_template.php on line 431 (GET /roundcube/?)

Anyone else had this problem?

Working nicely here after automatic update; had to re-add settings for sieve filtering to get access to filters, but other than that, no hiccups and beautiful new (very different) interface.

One caveat, though: new interface is designed to work better on widescreen monitors.

The new update points to a different directory, so the changes made previously to the setup in the RoundCube directory to enable sieve (from the install on these forums) had to be made again. I don't remember the details right now but nothing had to be redone except the change or two in the roundcube configuration.

Ok, i did a test.

Since i use the custom configuration file also for roundcube on update it asked this:

Code:
Roundcube 0.8.0 has been installed successfully.
WARNING: Missing config options:
(These config options should be present in the current configuration)
- 'support_url'

WARNING: Replaced config options:
(These config options have been replaced or renamed)
- 'default_imap_folders' was replaced by 'default_folders'
- 'pagesize' was replaced by 'mail_pagesize'

Do you want me to fix your local configuration? (y/N)

Saying "y" it fix the new value.

But for those of us who automatically update all webapps in CustomBuild, is there something else we can do besides deleting user preferences?

Perhaps I'll turn off the automatic update of webapps.

Well I just did 2 new installs of DA on to 2 new servers and both have a bug whereby no messages can be deleted. An error appears briefly stating that the "message could not be moved."

I'll start looking at solutions for this, however it's something to be aware of.
Debian 6 32bit, using the newest custombuild option on install.

I have the same issue with many servers. I didn't find a solution to resolve this. I don't have error in the log.

Did you find a solution? I came here with the same problem.

Are you sure it's a RoundCube issue? I recently set up an imap account on a server on which I've never before used it, and I can't remove, or move (only copy) emails coming into the inbox. Not even on my desktop system, connected through IMAP, which manages imap accounts on other servers just fine.

Not sure. No one has complained about it till now. (A day after upgrading Round Cube). But on a side note, I had to restart the server for an unrelated reason and it works now. Maybe restart dovecot?
