courier-imap: unrecognized service

Hello,
i'm not sure if what im doing is right but i read somewhere i should run courier-imap in order i be able to use emails

so i used this

service courier-imap start

but i got this error
courier-imap: unrecognized service

what should i do please?

Hello,

If your server is a directadmin powered one, then you should use dovecot as a provider of POP3/IMAP protocols for working (reading) with emails. And that should be running by default. If your server is old enough (and was/is using cusomapache script) and has not dovecot installed, then you should use custombuild to convert to dovecot.
