I am setting up magento on dedicated IP with SSL. When I go to any https on the domain, I get a 404 error. I have mod_rewrite enabled, have tried it on and off. Cert seems installed correctly. I have exhaustively searched Magento forums and no solution I have tried there has worked. Most suggestions center around rewriting. I am completely out of ideas. Here is the error:

Not Found

The requested URL /customer/account/login/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2 Server at www.bulb-store.com Port 443

Here is the page https://www.bulb-store.com/customer/account/login/

I have another ssl on a different dedicated ip that is functioning properly, though it isn't a magento site.

Direct admin uses private_html for SSL content and public_html for not.

I would suggest go domain administration and the the bottom you will see two options.
Choose the one which says Symlink. That way, store all your files in public_html.

OH MY! The Symlink setting fixed it. I spent 12 hours trying to figure that out yesterday and was just about to delete the store and re-install. Thank you so much for helping! :)

Google my friend :) I found it in couple minutes when i needed it.
