changed to non-shared ip and mail/ftp broke

i have an account with a few domains on it that worked fine earlier. both ftp and mail.

i changed the IP, and then i could not ftp in or retreive mail.

when i changed the ip back to the shared ip, ftp worked again, however i can not retreive mail.

fyi, when i ftp'd, it was to the ip addresses, not the domain names .. and i tried both.

any idea how i can fix the mail problem? in outlook it just hangs on receiving and then fails.
