I've recently set up a new DA box at a new data center. All is running very good, except now that I want to add new IP's, the data center wants root password. I have other boxes at other data centers, they have never asked for root access when requesting new IP's.

This just doesn't seem right - so I thought I'd ask the community.

Hello,

Probably they need your password as they want to add an IP themselves.
Read their TOS, that's the only right thing to do. If you don't like them, move to another DC.

Also, consider that they may think they need your root password to install it for you; they may think they'll save you from entering the info wrong, and they may not realize that DirectAdmin adds it for you.
