ERROR: No reverse DNS (PTR) entries.

Hi,

Recently I moved my Directadmin VPS to cloud based VMware hosting.
All working fine except we are getting PTR setup error.
My service provider says that I should be able to set it up this through my DirectAdmin interface which what I have done by
following this post.

But my PTR records are still not resolving.

Any advice would be appreciated.
 
Hello,

I'd rather moved from such a VPS provider to another one. PTR records can be changed only on name servers which are authoritative for a subnet. So if you don't rent/own a /24, /23... subnet you can not change PTR records on your side. And you should do it with the help of a provider. Normally a VPS provider or dedicated servers provider offers such an opportunity in their control panel where you manage your server status and pay invoices.
