Hi all

Show your support to get some good will going for the new theme. I don't know how many of us have even heard of it but if you have seen the demo or even tried it on your own server you would know the improvements puts it alongside Plesk etc, forget cPanel! Seriously, great gains have been made.

Because of this and to spread the word to potential customers, other hosting providers unhappy with their panel and hopefully to raise awareness of the need for help with bug testing and providing additional services in order to bring the theme along please, please, please update your forum signature with the following. I spoke to John at DirectAdmin support he loves the excitement and shares the sentiment and did say there is no imminent release but that's not the point we are making. This is to signify positivity in the change and to get the message across that DirectAdmin could very well become a top 3 market leader very possibly. If you have seen the skin you would understand why that is.

Anyway, enough from me, here is the code, geo to the "Settings" link at the top of the forum and "Edit Signature". Obviously you must be logged in for this to work. Paste this code in there and voila! Maybe keep your old signature in a text file for when the theme does get released.

I feel I must stress I'm not trying to push for an earlier than necessary release infact I would prefer to *wait* an additional 6, 12 or 18 months for an alpha/beta/RC release in place of having a much nicer end product with greater longevity for the Control Panel.

So please please please do me, John, smtalk and the DirectAdmin support team a huge favour and get the message out there that DirectAdmin isn't holding back on staying up to date with responsive web standards of the latest available technologies, in fact they are already on their way to creating a much improved experience for everybody who uses the panel.

Well done DirectAdmin!!!!!

OK, I am not a "Team DirectAdmin" staff member; and let me say as well nor am I profiting from DA at the present moment. (previous plugins have been attempted :p)

Here's my take on it:
  • In July '17 I obtained a copy of the very bug `friendly` pre-alpha pre-production theme.
  • I submitted my first and second bug report on the 5th of August '17 with no real hope for finding all the bugs
  • After redownloading the Evolution theme in November '17, I found the number of bugs had massively reduced but some major ones still existed
  • Bug report recently filled and if that is completed then I would be able to use the theme in pre-production mode on a day to day basis, assuming no additional bugs show up as its impossible to find every bug without making the mistake of assuming there are no more.

So here's what people have relayed to me:
Yes, currently _if_ you are not in production mode, DirectAdmin staff _may_ allow you to get a copy of the theme to do bug finding if you submit a support ticket

Start skim reading from now on if that's a habit of yours because its inane, just ask for a copy if you are in pre-production mode. Thank you.

My personal experience, explained...
Seriously, it has improved so much recently that before, well, the bug reports were never ending and you would just simply send across the list when it got "quite long" - that's all changed now.
I personally (and as I am pre-production a team of 10-15 will find only 5% of the bugs) am finding it takes 2-3 days to find all the bugs I can and then just carry on using the theme, then you find more when the bugs holding you back from staying with the theme are fixed. Hence, this is what pre-alpha is.

But again; seriously, because the bugs are being identified there and then in 1-2 days and then its like "wow, why is it not pre-production pre-alpha released, publicly?" well lets just say the bug list at present needs fixing even in pre-production state. It's usable, but not for long periods and the bugs that are present are simply catastrophic even in pre-production mode, therefore pre-alpha to me is pre-production only.

But lets just get some support going because a team of 15 will find 5% of the bugs a team of 1000 can find. Seriously; anybody who has deployed a change and found out a withdrawal request needs to be made should possibly speak up here because I have done this myself and I am enthused and so are the DA staff so please, someone in Hosting world must be preparing a server and have time to test the new, super-fantastic Bootstrap responsive theme, please!!!!

Kind regards

FYI

A lot of misconstrued blaming going on btw; the theme requires DA to update their panel. Therefore the skin is dragging DirectAdmin Panel into the future tense with a lot of support for modern web dev. techniques included. Hence, if its a theme problem, say that, if not its a panel problem.

Anyway, just saying; its a big change not a minor change.
