For some time I experience that users can't login anymore to DA.
After some investigation it looks like they have to use there user login names case sensitive.
DA however did send out the usernames with a begin capitel like:
Login: User
pass: xwwe0938rg

This was no problem. I don't know when it changed, but now users have to login with "user" instead of "User" otherwise they get a login error.

When was this changed?
Is the account notify email adjusted now so there is no begin capital in de username send anymore?
Is it possible to have DA ignore this? So the user can also login with "User" again?

Hello Richard,

Linux system differentiates user and User. Usernames are case sensitive.

Help site and versions changes have the following pages:

- override to allow upper case usernames
https://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1279

- automatically use lower case characters for username
https://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1292

- Force lower case usernames when creating Users
https://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=1203

find more with search:

Hello Alex.

Thank you for the information. I now know where it was coming from.
Because the sytem send out welcome e-notifications with uppercase starting like User which worked before, but now they complaint they can't login because they had to use lowercase. Probably caused by the Api which is explained in your link nr. 3.
Since lowercase is indeed normal for Linux, and it's only a few users, I will just leave as is, because that is better then changing and allowing uppercase.

Thank you!
