I have a strange email problem, whenever I send email out from outlook i get this error





now its fine on my home computer but on my works computer it is doing it, any ideas ?

You're trying to relay mail but you're not an authorized relay host or you need to authenticate with the server.

Can't recall where the setting is in OE, but you need to tell it that it requires authentication for SMTP.

Goto Tools, Accounts. Select your mail account from the list and click on properties.
Select the "My server requires authentication" and then click on the settings button.
Then use the logon method with your smtp username and password.

This often happens because Outlook and Outlook Express always try to send email before they receive.

Jon's suggestion should solve the problem, but if not, then I'd ask, what happens if after getting that error on "Send and Receive" the users tries "Send and Receive" again. Does that send the email?
