After a clean install of DA, I have found that the dir customapache already exists, and already has all those files in... So do we not need to install custom apache anymore? is it already installed by default?

I believe it is *included* as default, if im correct its not installed and does not need to be installed. You simple run it from the source files ;)

custom apache is included in DA installs now, it didnt used to be. (assuming you are refering to the tool in /usr/local/directadmin/customapache/)

Customapache is the default method for installing apache and all related services. It's saves time on our end to use one method for building/updating everything, and will ensure that you get the latest versions. Also the one version of customapache works on all OS's.
