Hi.
Recently installed DA on a fresh debian sarge system.
Im quite new with DA, but im very satisfied so far with the SW.

I just have a couple of questions:

1.
When i do a apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade my system wants to upgrade proftpd. Will this do any harm with my DA install?

2.
Does DA add its packages with dpkg? Does it have its own versions of all programs it depends on?

Guess i will ask some more questions when they appear unclear to me :)

Thanks.

Ralph

While I'm not a Debian user, I know a bit about DA.

I've previously posted (search these forums) a list of yum exclusions. My strong suggestion is that you should most likely exclude the same files from update as I do. DA manages what DA manages, on all OS distributions.

Updating proftpd may very well damage your DA install, depending on whether or not it changes any of the configuration files.

2. DA doesn't manage packages with dpkg; for hosting related packages it uses scripts in customapache (again, search these forums).

Versions of programs not managed by customapache can be found here for all supported versions of DA.
