Just received word that rc9 of dovecot was released. Look here for a what's new: http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-news/2006-October/000017.html.

How to install on FreeBSD:

cd /usr/local/directadmin/customapache
wget http://www.dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc9.tar.gz
vi build -> change version number
./build clean
./build dovecot
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/directadmin restart
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/dovecot restart

I assume you also use FreeBSD ? Did this update solve the strange IMAP-login (auth) error ?

I'm not sure which bug you are referring to. The only bug i know was a random dovecot freeze, where it wouldn't accept any new pop or imap connections.

Rc9 seems to fix that; e.g. i don't see it happening anymore in the logs.

I think we mean the same bug, I had the same symptoms, and I traced it down to dovecot_auth being hung (randomly).

I'm going to try this upgrade, cheers!
