Hello all,

I really like debian, so for the new server I want to run DA on I want to use Debian, but.... it has a nForce SATA chip debian 3.1 doesn't want to see during install, Debian 4.0 does see it and works like a charm.

So my question would be what to do, install debian etch and fool DA, or go for FreeBSD?

I'd go for Debian :) But why don't you want to go for CentOS?

well we have experience with debian and *BSD on servers, but not with centOS. so I figured let's safe the work of learning a new OS ;)

Is Debian Etch with DA stable enough to run in a production enviroment?

(If you haven't noticed this will be our first DA server)

You don't have to learn a new things :) Both Debian and CentOS are Linux, not Unix :) Both are using kernels. The one big difference is RPM packages and yum updater instead of apt-get. All the other tools are very similar to Debian's.
