why the forum show hundreds of thread but what i view is just a few only?

when i check the number of thread beside the board, the number is hundreds - thousands. but when i enter the board, the thread is less then 10. why like that ?
 
Scroll down to the bottom and select Display Options.

You can change it permanently in your User Control Panel (User CP) by switching to Edit Options and scrolling down to Thread Display Options.
