Must Delete temp files, cookies,and history too much

I have windows XP and for some reason I must delete History, temp files and cookies too much, It seems like every few minutes of searching the computer stops working until I delete these files. I have the limit set to the maximum setting and it does not help. Also my start menu starts to turn black and stops working . At this point I must restart the computer. I have had this problem for quite some time and it seems like it is getting worse. Please Help.
