Help fsockopen error in Squirrelmail???

Help! unable to send or receive e-mails????

Hi, I am sorry I am not an expert on e-mail issues,
but just recently I've been unable to send any messages
from my site's squirrelmail??
this is the error message

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:25 in /var/www/html/squirrelmail-1.4.2/class/deliver/Deliver_SMTP.class.php on line 40
Connection refused: server replied:111

Is there anything a novice like me can do to fix this
problem, and what exactly is happening here?? it worked fine

Make sure you mail server is running. That error normally happens when SquirrelMail is unable to connect to your IMAP server.

How do I test to see if the mail server is running?

In admin you can check status. The easiest way is to use a normal mail client and try to connect via IMAP.

IMAP is port 143.. that error is for SMTP on 25 which is exim. I've aready repled to the other post you made with the same problem.
