Dear ClamAV users,

This release introduces many new features and engine enhancements, please
see the notes below for the list of major changes. The most visible one
is the new logic in scan limits which affects some command line and config
options of clamscan and clamd. Please see clamscan(1) and clamd.conf(5)
and the example config file for more information on the new options.

Most important changes include:

* libclamav:
- New logic in scan limits: provides much more efficient protection against
DoS attacks but also results in different command line and config options
to clamscan and clamd (see below)
- New/improved modules: unzip, SIS, cabinet, CHM, SZDD, text normalisator,
entity converter
- Improved filetype detection; filetype definitions can be remotely updated
- Support for .cld containers (which replace .inc directories)
- Improved pattern matcher and signature formats
- More efficient scanning of HTML files
- Many other improvements

* clamd:
- NEW CONFIG FILE OPTIONS: MaxScanSize, MaxFileSize, MaxRecursion, MaxFiles
- ** THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS ARE NO LONGER SUPPORTED **: MailMaxRecursion,
ArchiveMaxFileSize, ArchiveMaxRecursion, ArchiveMaxFiles,
ArchiveMaxCompressionRatio, ArchiveBlockMax

* clamscan:
- NEW CMDLINE OPTIONS: --max-filesize, --max-scansize
- REMOVED OPTIONS: --block-max, --max-space, --max-ratio

* freshclam:
- NEW CONFIG OPTION CompressLocalDatabase
- NEW CMDLINE SWITCH --no-warnings
- main.inc and daily.inc directories are no longer used by ClamAV; please
remove them manually from your database directory

I'm getting an error when I try and update via Yum from the RPMForge (Dag) repo

Error: Missing Dependency: libclamunrar_iface.so.3 is needed by package clamav

Anyone else seeing this and know of a solution?

yum whatprovides libclamunrar_iface.so.3 says that clamav-0.93-1.el5.rf.i386 is what provides this... Which is what I'm trying to install... so I'm a little confused.

why dont we have instractions on how to install it ?!

is that the best way to install it ? coz i feel like i miss something >

To install Clam AntiVirus (ClamAV), we are going to use the precompiled binaries from Dag Wieers RPM packages for Red Hat, RHEL, CentOS and Fedora. To do this, we are going to configure Yum to look for the ClamAV packages in Dag’s repository.

Adding Dag Wieers RPM Repository to Yum
1. Click Applications, select System Tools and click Terminal. This will launch the Terminal window. Type in the command cd /etc/yum.repos.d and press Enter. This will bring us to the Yum repository configuration directory.
2. From this directory download the Yum repository configuration file by typing in the command
wget http://www.linux-mail.info/files/dag-clamav.repo and press Enter. This is what the file dag-clamav.repo looks like.
Installing Clam AntiVirus
3. To install ClamAV AntiVirus, type in the command
yum install clamav clamav-devel clamd and press Enter. When asked to confirm download, type in y and press Enter.
Testing Clam AntiVirus
4. To test ClamAV AntiVirus, type in the command clamscan and press Enter.
