Restore backup: Email question regarding overwrite

Ok, I had planned on moving a site a while ago onto a new server. Did a backup, restored it and setup the server.

When sending welcome emails out from that new server, the copy of the welcome email was deposited on that new server under my domain account, even though DNS still pointed to the old site.

Now, I want to do the move today, and my question is this... if I restore a backup from the old server to the new, will the email that is backed up from the old box over-write the contents of the mailboxes on this new server?? Or will the old mail data from that server, simply be combined with the email thats already on the new server?

If you're using 1.21.3, yes, the email data (contents of emails) will be overwritten. Anything older than that doesn't touch the email data.
