Hello people. :) How are you?

Recently, I noticed that dab4smtp is still running on my server, which I find it odd considering that...

- I installed dovecot which should override directadmin's email service.
- I have turned off dovecot.
- I have also turned off exim.

Theorectically, no mail services should be running after turning off dovecot and exim. Or at least that's what I thought. Is it safe for me to kill it, or is the process required by something else that I'm not aware of?

In addition, does this imply a fail uninstallation of previous directadmin's email service?

Thanks!

Hello,

Dovecot only replaces wu-imap and vm-pop3d. (port 143 and 110)
Exim is always this smtp server (port 25)

da-popb4smtp has to do with exim allowing people to send email based on their IP. It reads the /var/log/maillog file for entires made by vm-pop3d, wu-imap or dovecot (it can read all 3) and then add's that users IP to the /etc/virtual/pophosts file.

da-popb4smtp is it's own program, so shutting off exim/dovecot won't affect it.
If exim isn't running, then the IPs added to the pophosts file won't matter, so it doesn't matter if da-pop3d is running if exim isn't.

If I do shut down da-popb4smtp for to maximize my server's performance, would starting exim etc automatically start the program again next time?
