What you're supposed to do is check these files against the ones already on your system (without the .rpmnew extension). Ideally you should copy the new ones over the old ones to get the features in the new RPMs, but you need to make sure you preserve any changes you may have made to the original files or you could lose functinality.

I don't know which of these you may be using, so I can't tell you more specifically.

You probably do want to copy over the files for yum, but be sure to preserve your custom excludes line in your current yum.conf to the new one, or you may break your server the next time yum runs.

Jeff

Hi

Which packages we shouldn't update for not conflict with direct admin?

Thanks

Seach these forums for the yum.conf line beginning with exclude

Jeff

Currently i have :
exclude=apache* httpd* mod_* mysql* MySQL* da_* *ftp* exim* sendmail* php* bind-chroot*

in yum.conf. Are these correct?

I run yum update and i saw that yum package will be update too. Is this a problem?

I've posted my exclude line many times on this forum; I don't see any reason to do it again.

However, here it is:
Code:
exclude=bind-chroot httpd* mysql* php* perl* apache* mod_* MySQL* *ftp* exim* sendmail* php* da_*
Note that many of these are unnecessary (unless as I do you run yum update before you install DirectAdmin, as yum won't update packages that aren't already installed. Also, it's a good idea to exclude package you never want even if they're not already installed, because that keeps you from installing them accidentally.

You should definitely update yum itself.

Note that I do not exclude the kernel; many people do. I know my systems are RedHat certified, and I know official kernels will work. Your experience may differ. Updating kernels is important, but you may want to update them manually, when you're either at your datacenter or can get there quickly to solve problems if they don't work.

You can also write custom code to automatically reset grup to restart from an earlier kernel if the new one won't boot, but that's well beyond the scope of the DirectAdmin forums.

If it weren't a live server I'd recommend removing everything related to MySQL and then reinstalling it all.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff , Of cos which is a live server, anyone have safe way to fix that ?

If you got a problem installing perl-DBD-MySQL with cpan shell.

it might because installer needs root password on mysql to be blank.
didnt check if you could add --testuser parameters in the cpan shell.

What i did, was installing manually, download source etc..

And used da_admin account so the tests was ok.

perl Makefile.PL --testuser=da_admin --testpassword=xxxx
