Hoping somene can help me out with this. I have just got my second server with RedHat 9 with DA (latest) on both.

I am trying to find a method of having one as a primary name server and the other as a secondary. I have already set the name servers on one server ns1.pdqdns.com & ns2.pdqdns.com, which wor fine but of course are only on a single server.

I am unable to create new name servers on my other system with ns3 & ns4. as the primary domain pdqdns.com does not exist on that machine. Any pointers on how to do this manually would be appreciate.

Then of couse I need any tips on getting the ns1 (server1) to update ns3 (server2) each time I change / add a domain.

Thanks

Stephen

Why have ns1, ns2, ns3, and ns4?

Why not just have ns1 on one server and ns2 on the other server?

You'll have to create slave zone files manually, or write your own code to create them; there's nothing built in to DA to do slave DNS, nor in fact is there anything built into BIND to create slave DNS from master DNS.

Look up "slave" (without the quotes) in these forums to find some ideas.
