Custombuild eating disk space converting dovecot

Decided to upgrade to dovecot. Running the update for the mail boxes to the new format and my disk space is getting used up so quickly. Had 6 gig free before and now under 2 gig and the convert is still going. How do I free up the space? I am afraid that it will crash out because of the lack of drive space, how do I free up the files?
 
You can remove the old mbox files using the following command:

echo "action=delete&value=mbox" >> /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue
