Internal server error with Ioncube files

Running Apache with PHP-FPM fine but the sites that need Ioncube throw an internal server error.
Ioncube is installed.
Permission error? Can't find anything in the error logs :S
 
Is a correct PHP version is used with the Ioncube files? You might need to updated them?
 
Apache error log shows nothing either.
Correct version?
Using the Custombuild Ioncube files.
 
Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but if your PHP files are encoded with ionCube for PHP 5.2 you can not use them under PHP 5.3 and vice versa if your PHP files are encoded for 5.3 you can not use them under PHP 5.2.
 
I know, using PHP 5.4 with Ioncube files for 5.4 ;)
They work with mod-php though, that's why it's puzzling for me.
