Logging on to MySQL externally

Hi, How can i log onto mysql server using an external server. I am using a program called yourshopadmin which allows me to edit the data on my database. I have put the address for the database as db.mydomain.co.uk:3306/mydatabase (obviously using my domain name and database).

What is the proper address to connect to the mysql database.

Do you have port 3306 open to the outside?

I would imagine that it is open, what i need to do is contact my host and ask them, thanks anyway.

This is NOT recommended, but if you must...

Go to the MySQL panel.
Select the database you wish to share add it in the section below the user adding . . .

normally the only value is localhost
simply add % to the Access Hosts list


Q: how would you access it from your desktop - by what address?
A: if you had a static IP or hostname, this would be a preferable method
