Ok got a DirectAdmin server online, changed the server name from ensim11.8-95.com (yeah laugh, you get a in a rut and don't even realize what you're doing sometimes) to da11.8-95.com, rebooted.

[root@da11 conf]# hostname
da11.8-95.com

In DirectAdmin it shows "da11.8-95.com"

But, http://ensim11.8-95.com/ shows the default page but http://da11.8-95.com/ doesn't.

I'm sure it's something silly but it sure has me stumped.

There's no hostname setting in httpd.conf ensim11 da11 neither exist in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

A grep yields nothing for ensim11 in /etc/httpd/conf period.

there is an /etc/virtual I found it mentioned both da11 and ensim11 are listed there so not sure what's up with that.

Searched thru DA for ensim11 anywhere and nothing found.

Someone probably created a domain named: da11.8-95.com and then deleted the index.html. That's about all I can think of.

John

da11.8-95.com is the servername under Admin settings
ensim11.8-95.com is the old servername which I changed to da11

Should it be possible for someone to create a domain with the same name as the servername?

If that is currently an available option to everyone on a server it should be disallowed. Only the admin user should be able to create a servers hostname as a domain.

OK I'm an idiot.

It was DNS, I added da11 to the primary name server but it hasn't been xfer'd yet to the secondary dns server. I finally got smart and pinged da11 from somewhere besides da11 or my primary dns haha so I am pretty sure that was my problem.
