We are currently using a standard FreeBSD system for our hosting and are preparing to migrate to a new server with DA. We are stuck against some very hard spots and are wondering if anyone has any solutions for us.

Currently we are using qmail/vpopmail/IMP for email. Some users have address book and saved mail stored via IMP (address book in a database and mail in the qmail mail folders).

What we need to do is import all users (ftp, email, etc) into our DA system and preserve as much information as possible. We need the passwords and everything transfered in and have each account set up and running. Then we need to move the user's address books from IMP to SquirrelMail and then move the users mail folders from qmail into the exim format.

Anyone who has any utilities or advice and can give it would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks!

Passwords:

You should try creating an email address on the DA system, and copying the password from the qmail system to the DA system and see if you can then use it to log in.

If you can't, then you'll have to set up all the passwords manually.

Converting any preexisting mailboxes from the mbox cur directory won't be easy; you'll have to find a program to convert the mbox directory structure to a Maildir format file, then copy it over to the new system (be careful not to lose email as you do the copying over).

Rather than try to convert IMP users to squirrelmail users, why not just install IMP on the DA system?

DA will happily coexist on your server with any IMAP client.
