Hi there,

I've installed Directadmin on my server and I noticed that I couldn't login through the server's IP.

So I checked /var/log/directadmin/error.log
and it shows me:

Unable to read config file. Check to make sure that /usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf.lock doesn't exist

But I looked there and there is no such directadmin.conf.lock file...

Any ideas?

I've followed the instructions step by step!

Thank you!

Is there a directadmin.conf ?

Do a service directadmin restart (on RH systems). Or restart directadmin /etc/rc.d/init.d/directadmin restart (or something)

Check any other log files in the /var/log/directadmin dir.

And what do you mean: " I couldn't login through the server's IP." ?

can you login through: http://domain:2222/ ? but not http://IP:2222/ ?

A little more info :)

Ok, thank you!

I've done a "service directadmin restart" and cannot login neither through the domain nor the IP. (the domain cannot work, since the DNS server is the DA-server and I haven't set up DNS at the moment...)

In that directory there is only this error.log and there is no directadmin.conf in /usr/local/directadmin/conf/ :eek:

I'm just :confused:

Hello,

See what you get when you run this:

cd /usr/local/directadmin
./directamdin i
./directadmin p

If it hangs, then do a "ps -ax" and look for quota related commands. If you see any, update your kernel and reboot the machine (some fedora systems hang due to a quota bug in the kernel). A reboot of the system is required if there are quota related programs stuck running.

John

Thanks for replying! I get the following:

[&&&@&&& directadmin]# ./directadmin i
Welcome to DirectAdmin verion 1.23.3!
You are now about to run the install program. If DirectAdmin is already
installed, it may destroy previous data.

[&&&@&&& directadmin]# ./directadmin p

:confused: but I set the IP during installation...
and get

Oh, before I forget. It's a RedHat Enterprise 3 system.

Ok, there is no IP... Shall I add it and let it run again?

And... how do I update the kernel? When I do a
up2date --configure

I see a

25. pkgsToInstallNotUp ['kernel', 'kernel-modules']

How do I update ONLY the kernel? THX again and yes, I'm new to RedHat :)

Don't update the kernel until were sure it is that problem. :)

Add the MAIN IP of you're server (wich is of you're licence) to the setup.txt

IP=[license ip]

and you're netmask :)

check ifconfig if you don't remember what netmask :p

and re-run command that DA said

Ok, I've submitted a ticket and the problem was, that DA was set to eth0 and I have only eth1... So one has to "ifconfig" see if either eth0 or eth1 and then change it in "directadmin.conf".

And now it runs like a charm :D

Two thumbs up for John and fusionictnl Thank you a lot!
