new install - any things I should know/do?

I have a brand new install of DA for the first time too.

Are there any things I should know or do to get the system going?

Yes probably.... but what operating system are you running? And absolutely get Installatron.

You will find good info on the forums using the search but give more details and maybe more help will come through here.

FreeBSD 4.10. I have the os under control I just am new to direct admin and wonder what tricks and stuff there are.

I want to limit

apache
ftp
pop/smtp/imap

motobrandt, Installatron seems to be really good and I'm thinking to get a 2-days trial, but don't you think most people would find it a bit expensive ($110 one-time fee or $60 yearly) ?

installatron looks great and not expensive really, but it just makes things more complex since they can do all those free scripts themselves easily too, if they cant install it themselves then they wont be able to use them either!

I just want to keep it simple simple...

but Iwant to know of things I should secure, limit, and protect...
