Due to a hard disk failure on one of our servers running FreeBSD 4.10, we're having a reinstall done (of 4.11) today. However, we're checking out the differences between 4.X and 5.X, and wondering what state DA is in for 5.X, as apparantly the new FreeBSD version is a hell of a lot better. However, whilst I took a backup of the system directories and home partition when I realised things were going wrong, which is going to be fun to restore.

What would be people's advice? Go with 5.X and try DA on there (with BIND9 etc), or stick with 4.X for now? It's looking like 4.X atm, due to the sheer speed and simplicity of the restore.

Thanks in advance.

5.4 RELEASE came out today :) I would go to a 5.x OS i f you can but I understand the time and pain in the butt factor.

This isn't going too well.

Edit: got there in the end! It's an interesting bodge of package, DA install and port, but it's getting there! Hoping to get everything running off ports later.
