Move domain from shared server IP to a dedicated IP

Hi,

I'm not sure that my questions belong to this sub-forum, so please move my message to different forum if appropriate.

I have a dedicated server with DA and I have access to all DA admin levels: Admin, Reseller, End-User. I've created a reseller (lets call it Reseller1), which has several End-Users. One of the end users (lets call it User1) has several domains. All these domains are on the shared server IP. I want to move one of these domains to a dedicated IP (I have several free IPs), but I'm not sure how, or if this is possible at all, without re-creating the domain.

I've added the new dedicated IP to Reseller1, and I don't know how to proceed from there.

Any help, will be highly appreciated.

Peter

There is no simple way to do this but I know that it's been discussed on this forum before...

I think it went something like this....
- Assign an IP to the reseller.
- Make a backup of the user (using the reseller interface)
- Rename the domain name you want to move
- Rename the backed up filename to the username you want to use (original was user1.tar.gz, rename to user2.tar.gz)
- Restore the the renamed file to the new dedicated IP (note you'll get errors for all the other domains in the account)
- Check the new account to make sure everything is where you expect it to be.
- Check that the domain is working (adter DNS has resolved to the new IP
- remove the renamed domain from the old useraccount.

You're welcome :)

Did my post help you? Did you change anything in my post?

This way I could make it a HOW-TO so other people can also use this.
