Dear all,

I'm new to DA and currently busy installing Mailscanner and f-prot. All seems to work correctly, mail is delivered as espected but there is one issue.

Everytime I start Mailscanner to process a test mail it starts over and over again, scanning the same message. In the mean while the message is already delivered.

Below the log
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: MailScanner E-Mail Virus Scanner version 4.42.9 starting...
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: Read 127 hostnames from the phishing whitelist
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: User's home directory /home/mail does not exist
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: Using locktype = posix
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: Creating hardcoded struct_flock subroutine for freebsd (BSD-type)
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: New Batch: Scanning 1 messages, 763 bytes
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: Virus and Content Scanning: Starting
Jul 1 22:51:29 vision MailScanner[3029]: Uninfected: Delivered 1 messages
Jul 1 22:51:40 vision MailScanner[3039]: MailScanner E-Mail Virus Scanner version 4.42.9 starting...

Jul 1 22:51:40 vision MailScanner[3039]: Creating hardcoded struct_flock subroutine for freebsd (BSD-type)

Now when I start (fresh start) the mailscanner and currently no new messages are arrived, it also does almost the same. See logs below:

Jul 1 23:22:33 vision MailScanner[3382]: MailScanner E-Mail Virus Scanner version 4.42.9 starting...
Jul 1 23:22:33 vision MailScanner[3382]: Read 127 hostnames from the phishing whitelist

Jul 1 23:22:44 vision MailScanner[3383]: MailScanner E-Mail Virus Scanner version 4.42.9 starting...

It's complaining about /home/mail dir, which is totaly unknown error for me. because I didn't change nor can't find the path in a install or config file.

Can somebody please help me out with this one? (I'm working on it for more than two days now)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Dave

Ok,

Found the problem. I have followed a manual on internet, which contains a huge error in de config of MailScanner.

What I did wrong here where the two lines:

Sendmail = /usr/sbin/sendmail -C /etc/exim.conf
Sendmail2 = /usr/sbin/sendmail -C /etc/exim_outgoing.conf

Instead of the: /usr/sbin/sendmail I did (as described) add the path to exim executable. This is wrong ....The example above is working properly now.

I hope this helps someone.

BTW: I'm still wrestle with the: User's home directory /home/mail does not exist

Any idea's?

Dave
