high serverload

I have a high serverload becouse a eggdrop

how do i locate who,s or where is the problem?
I killed this whith killall -9 eggdrop, and de serverload is normal.

But this is the 3e time that I have a high serverload.
How do I solve this problem?
Can I delete eggdrop?

Shooting from the hip here as it's been a while since IRC and eggdrops. Eggdrops are IRC (chat) robots. They sit inchannel and help with day-to-day stuff as well as guarding the channel.

Locate a file like pid.botname (replace the botname with the actual botname) and DETETE it.

The problem I see is that if *whomever* was able to install the IRC bot to begin with. What's going to stop them from reinstalling it once you kill it?

You can also firewall ports 6660 thru 7000 (tho I remember some servers running on 7001, 7002 and 7003) if you don't have anything of value running on them.

Eggdrops are NOT supposed to be on webhosting servers.

You should disable it immedately and find out if you've provided ssh access to a user that did it or the server was hacked. Unless you provide ssh/shell hosting Eggdrops should not be on servers.
