Thanks, that gives confidence! :)
So there is no application / service / plugin in DA that might go weird because a generic "admin" account name is missing?
I also thought about first trying to suspend "admin" to play is safe. That didn't cause any noticable errors.
In the worst case scenario...
With impossible password you mean a very long/difficult password? If so, ofcourse I am doing that already with all my DA passwords.
Regarding security: it just gives one less option of becoming a potential issue. One more obstacle in bruteforcing it.
So possible ways are to re-name admin or to...
For security reasons I want to get rid of the standard / original user "admin".
Is it safe to:
Create new user "admin2"
Move all users from "admin" to "admin2"
Delete admin
I already moved all users from admin to admin2 and in the list of "Administrators" it says that "admin" still uses 70GB...
Okay I noticed that one can install pigz (e.g. apt-get install pigz) and then set pigz=4 in directadmin.conf.
This should now use 4 cores whenever I create or restore backups?
I am currently doing a migration to a new DA Server by making the admin backup via ftp to the new server.
I notice that each user gets packed with gzip but only by using 1 CPU.
This seems like a bottleneck that makes backup/restore take ages.
Why not make it use multicore or e.g. 50% of...
Hi everyone,
I have changed my SSH port as well as my DA port to something else than 22 / 2222.
Is it safe to remove those ports from the csf firewall configuration then?
Thanks!
Thank you a lot, you were a life saver! It is not working just fine.
I also figured out why I added the IPv6 to my DNS in the first place:
It was due to gmail dropping my mails because of a "missing IPv6 PTR" Error.
Other than that, I didn't have any use for IPv6 and it also is still disabled...
How ever, I can't add an IPv6 in the IP Manager. It only allows me to enter IPv4 adresses.
So I guess I first have to enable that option in directadmin?
Then add IPv6, then link it to the IPv4.
That will simply link my IPv6 to my IPv4 and then all the magic should happen as everything that...
