Hi,

My server,l running old (6.1) FreeBSD died. Currently it looks that I have all (most) files of /home including /home/mysql where user database files are, however the drive where /var is very much damaged. Is it somehow possible to recover user databases in some format or dump so that they can be imported into a mysql server on another server?

Hi,

Why You ask about /var when all mysql data in /home? (according to your post).

What I mean is that I seem to have users' database files like .frm, .FYI, .FYD . But I am not sure if these are enough to retrieve/dump the data without rebuilding mysql ? The server is now dead. Or do I need to find any other mysql files on the server in other directories?

You can't retrieve users data from files like .frm, .FYI, .FYD without rebuilding mysql server. Only DB structure can be retrieved in certain cases.
