Hello...

I have been waiting, and waiting for the new SpamBlocker3 to be released.

Any ETA, keeps getting pushed back. Seems that ASSP plugin is in the works for DA. Sounds like a race starting to heat up to me.

I have nto tried the RC or beta, actually I don't even know where to download the latest and if it is ready for a small productin server (about 30 domains).

Or maybe my SA and SpamBlocker2 settings (RBL's, etc) and exim are not setup the best they can be. I have an excellent managed server so I am not as hands on as maybe I should be, but I really need to lessen the amount of SPAM my clients are getting and complaining about. I also do not have any AV setup.

Since SpamBlocker 2 has been out a while and I have seen countless postes about how to improve it and the exim file. What is the most popular and "best" setup working now, so that I can set mine up like that until either SpamBlocker3 or ASSP X for DA is out.

Here is what versions I have on my server:
SPAM Blocker Resolve-IT Plugin 1.9.0
SPAMBlocker exim.conf 2.0
RBLs:
http://www.spamhaus.org/
http://www.ordb.org/
http://www.sorbs.org/
http://www.spamcop.net/
http://www.njabl.org/
http://cbl.abuseat.org/

I can send (or post) parts of my exim if needed. I did not do it initially as 1 I am sure it needs to be upgraded (which will not allow the Plugin to work) and 2 I would think parts should not be posted due to a security risk, etc.

Sorry for the cross threading, but I feel it is all related, and shoudl benefit alot of other people sitting on the fence and "hurry up and waiting, and waiting" for something new.

Thank you all very much...

SpamBlocker2.1.1 is the most recent SpamBlocker configuration. SpamBlocker3 will be released when I believe it's a good replacement with enough changes to warrant the entire version number. The main difference is it includes ClamAV scanning by Exim; it doesn't require any add on programming to run ClamAV at smtp time.

I currently expect to have it by the end of the month. But I don't promise.

That's why DA currently includes SpamBlocker2.1.1.

If ASSP turns out to be a better project, and if enough people want to have a separate daemon running, so be it. Personally, I think ASSP was probably written by people who didn't realize how powerful exim.conf really is.

The beauty of open source is that if you or anyone else doesn't think I'm bringing out SpamBlocker3 fast enough, you can always fork it and do your own.

Thanks Jeff...

Thank you for shedding some light on this.

I will upgrade to 2.1.1 and keep an eye out for your SpamBlocker3 w/ the ClamAV.

Thank you very much...
