Hi,

A client complained that his email gets into Hotmails spam-folder.
Quite annoying really.

I checked SPF and A records, and that's all fine.
And I added a postmaster address to every domain.
Except for the server IP.. I don't know how to make a postmaster@myipaddr address.
I even added DKIM according to this guide

When I test it by sending an email to [email protected] it says the dkim isn't correct.
Summary of Results
==========================================================
SPF check: pass
DomainKeys check: neutral
DKIM check: fail
Sender-ID check: pass
SpamAssassin check: ham

DKIM check details:
----------------------------------------------------------
Result: fail (signature doesn't verify)

I googled this further, and it might have to do that the private and the public key don't match. =/

Has anyone tested with DKIM ?

Anyway, about hotmail: I think I have to email them to add my senderID, for them to acknowledge me.

PS, gmail has no trouble with my emails.

I would start to disable DKIM again because that failes. If neutral, it should also get to hotmail.
It should work if your hostname also has an A record.

Ive tested DKIM and ive got in production since many month now without issue.

Check again the guide, check file permission and the keys.

Regards

Hi, thanks for the replies.

It seems that only with that test-email-address it fails.. But all the others are fine.
Even Gmail and Yahoo find it good.
Actually, everything seems to be in order.

Except for hotmail, who doesn't recognise the "SenderID".
Sending an email to [email protected] gets bounced. Even when I wrote it from a hotmail address. Do u get that too ?
There's this new page, saying there's a new way.. But I see no submission form or anything.
There's also mentioning of the parter http://returnpath.net
Testing my server IP there, tells me that there hasn't been enough email from it to verify it's a non-spammer..
Funnily I get the same message when checking with my oldest server IP.

Also I read that when you timeout on $ telnet mail.hotmail.com 25
your mail won't get into the inboxes.

Ive no an hotmail address to test with, if you want i can send one email to your and you can check header of mine just to have a confirm.

Let me know

Regards

ur sender-id was fine ;)

I couldn't contact Microsoft by the ways that are showing in the latest google results...

I had to do it via this form: https://support.msn.com/eform.aspx?...support_home_options_form_bye-mail&ct=eformts
And a few hours after that, they emailed me:
Hello,

We have reviewed the information in your ticket and your IP(s) and determined that it is eligible for mitigation of your deliverability problem. This process may take 24 - 48 hours to replicate completely throughout our system. Please note that mitigating this issue does not guarantee that your email will be delivered to a user's inbox.

Hotmail encourages all senders to take an active role in the management of their email systems. In an effort to assist with this, we provide programs to help you monitor and identify issues that can impact sending reputation.

If you aren't already participating, we suggest you join and start using the information the following helpful programs can provide:

Junk Mail Reporting Program (JMRP) - This free program provides a feedback mechanism for email being sent on your IPs that is marked as unwanted by Hotmail users. The information provided can be used to keep mailing lists updated with only interested consumers, identify content or campaigns that users deem unwanted, and detect unintended mail traffic on your IPs.

Smart Network Data Services program (SNDS) - This free program provides information about traffic seen originating from your registered IPs, such as mail volume and complaint rates. The data is built from the log files of the inbound mail machines and other servers at Hotmail and Microsoft and represents factual information about the traffic from your mail servers to Hotmail users.

For more information or to enroll in these programs, refer to http://mail.live.com/mail/services.aspx

Sender ID - is a framework which verifies the IPs which send mail from your authenticated domain As of April 2021, the information in your SPF record is used to automatically configure Sender ID so it's important to ensure the information you have published is complete and accurate. When configuring your SPF record, please note that technical standards (RFC 4408) discourage use of "ptr" for performance and reliability reasons.

For more information about Sender ID, refer to http://www.microsoft.com/senderid

Microsoft makes no guarantees that participation in these programs will guarantee deliverability to MSN, Windows Live Hotmail, or Live.com customers.

For more detailed information about best sending practices to Windows Live Hotmail users, please review the following white paper: http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-497d-9693-78f80be272fb/enhance_deliver.pdf

Sincerely,

Luckily I dind't need to send domain names, as most google-searched answers suggested.
I just sent my main server-IP's in that form.

Now I just have to remind me to do this each time I get a new server or change of IP.

Hope this helps u guys.

Another place where u can test DKIM, SENDER-ID, SPF, DMARC, ADSP is: http://www.unlocktheinbox.com/resources/emailauthentication/

And this service that hotmail uses too: https://www.senderscore.org/
