multiple private nameservers

I see DA allows for branded DNS servers. I am guessing this is on the reseller level, not individual end user/site level.

If that is the case, do I need unique IP addresses for each set of branded name servers?

i.e. for 3 resellers I would need 6 unique IP addresses?

Thanks

Dale

Most zones (and certainly .com, .net, .org, .edu) don't require discreet IP#s for nameservers.

So each domain can have it's own nameserver name, i.e., ns1.example.com, and ns2.example.com.

You create the records manually in the DNS zone for example.com, adding both NS records and A records as appropriate.

You must also register and assign the nameservers with the registrar of example.com.

Except for certain vain clients, it's usually more trouble than it's worth.

And it's certainly going to cause extra downtime if the client ever moves (but that may be a good thing :) ).

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Mainly I am only concerned about reseller level private name servers.

I agree with you completely about a user based name server. That would be a pain.

I am trying to decide if I really need/want to deal with 2 seperate name server setups or just go with one.

e.g. ns.reseller1.com & ns.reseller2.com

or just stick with ns.company.com
