If possible, when end-user add a CNAME (or MX) record, it'd better to test the existence of the destination.
For example, frequently, when end-user configure DNS MX for Google Apps, one of the MX is ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM , they often missed the full-stop at the end, and cause email issue.
So, it'd better to test the destination before CNAME/MX records update if possible.
