Thank you for the explanation! I think it's just some confusion. User config takes priority over global settings, and is stored in localStorage (we could store it in backend, so that changes would be seen by the user everywhere - no problems). Would you like something to completely disable user selection of the layout and strictly follow what is set in "Customize Evolution Skin"?

    . Short answer Yes..
I would like to choose the skin and the layout. The look and feel if you will. As the admin and set it and never allow it be changed and it default as the defacto standard for all users and accounts. I can see people with resellers wanting to allow the reseller to do that on the Reseller account as well.

    Hope that makes sense..

Correct, so it should be like that:
My admin theme is Evolution Standard, so lets say if l login to user through admin panel, i should see the Evolution Icon Grid Layout as it would be set default, and so when i logout, and back to admin area, i should see the Evolution standard, i hope you got it now.

It's been improved a bit, some 'confusing' things solved, one still left: when you're logged in as a user, if you change anything in "Hello, user" -> "Skin Options" section, it's saved in browser's localStorage, meaning if you switch the browser or computer - it'd show the default settings (set in "Customize Evolution Skin"). We're planning to save this to backend, so that user settings would be applied permanently. Please keep in mind it doesn't affect "Customize Evolution Skin" section at all.

Also, a reminder - this is a tech preview version of the icons grid (not packed with 'stable' release yet), so, there might be issues. I'm glad nothing major has been reported yet

    Thank you for the feedback!

I have just installed the latest skin on a new vps and the icons now don't change anymore when we change the access level.

Only the default admin icons are visible, making it impossible to create a normal user under reseller level.

    Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/Mth9NhJ

Standard and sidebar layouts both work correctly.

    Is this a bug?

As I think it might be just set a "Grid" as menu type in standard layout? Screenshot attached. A screenshot from this page would be really great, if you have issues. Thank you!

Also, if it's really set to "Icon Grid" and saved, would it be possible to capture this?

Thank you and sorry for the troubles!

What's the best way to go back to the default or stable version of evolution. My file manager is locking up now. Not sure why.

Shouldn't be related. Is there anything in browser console? Maybe some errors?

Regarding downgrade: https://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=29 (mentioned in first post as well)

Regarding individual icons - can be changed using "Customize Evolution Theme".

"Merge Access Levels" - will be removed from user "skin options" very soon, will update the thread. It's minor though, as it just doesn't do anyting when you're an end-customer

Plugin icons - as we only had ~16 hours to design, discuss, code, test and release the Icons Grid layout for public, as we've seen a very high demand for it, it's going to get improvements for sure. One of the - ability for plugins to ship with their own icons We've released a fully functioning version to show what it might look like. We're likely replacing ~8 of the previous icons this evening we think would be better for the 'vintage' look and feel, minor change though.

We're looking forward for the feedback (positive/negative etc.) - your opinion really counts. Thank you for this!
It would be great if the Merge Access Levels, just combined the Admin and the Reseller options as well. Leaving the user panel as its own thing.

Sorry for the troubles, introduced just yesterday. Should be fine now (just execute the same commands mentioned in the first post).

Please note it's not in 'stable' branch yet, so, if any issues - you can always downgrade to a stable branch (mentioned in the fist post) anytime.

Thank you for the report! Have a nice journey!

It's very easy to do this. "Customize Evolution Skin" is to set settings for end-customers, while you can use "Hello, user" -> "Skin Options" for your own user settings (just select "Sidebar" layout there and that's it)

Your issue should be gone in latest build too, so, you can go back to 'edge' version of the skin now, instead of 'stable', if needed Thanks!

This skin is definitely what we'd be more familiar with. Some changes IMO and I think we'd be ready:
    1. Some background color at the header, to be consistent with the other layouts.
    2. Expandable search bar, collapsed by default (an icon that when pressed, would expand the search bar)
    3. Slimmer stats bar so there'd be more focus on the grids

The search bar I felt was being too intrusive, and at certain page widths would stretch too far out to the left (killing all spacing between the logo and the bar). I really do hope that the default skins would look awesome enough that I can brag about having "vanilla DirectAdmin" .

Thank you for the feedback! We'll discuss some of these internally. #3 depends on screen resolution though, may I ask what's your screen res? As 'stats bar' is also a widget, and you may have anything as a widget, we wouldn't like to provide limited space for them (can be easy workarounded using custom css in "Customize Evolution Skin")
