I added my first client type user and made a typo on the email address. It turns out that the @gmail address I input was not used (wow! imagine that..lol)

At the time the system was of default CB 1.2 flavor.

Observations were:

  • no 'Creator Duplicate' on admin using catch all mailbox
  • /etc/aliases has system email, diradmin@hostname blackholed -- the default setting AFAIK.
Seem like it ought to be something not blackholed.. Yet below URL says "If you actually want the bounce message to set an email in place of blackhole." Reads as if blackhole is preferred (and perhaps is..) but in this case it's created some confusion.

Below shows log depicting the user creation -> (typo discovery, verbal w/client) -> my error msg follow-up email before realizing by logs the destination email was invalid.

I have since changed /etc/aliases so diradmin is not :blackhole:

It seems with "diradmin: :blackhole:" in aliases as default this should be a good choice since JBMC seems to set defaults very well for us. However in the case I've presented, there is a problem with the default, or the need of some compensating code elsewhere for at least initial 'welcome' and/or Creator Duplicate.
