I recently had some hardware fail on a dedicated server after years of faithful service. Luckily I had been backing up the entire machine using Crashplan, so I was able to restore the entire operating system on a VM on my KVM hosts here at home.
So, I now have that server restored and booted in a KVM virtual machine, but I need to find the best way to backup and restore several accounts that was on this failed machine. I have another server running Directadmin in a different datacenter that I would like to "import" these accounts into.
I have never used any of the backup/restore capabilites of DA yet, so its good to learn, especially on sites that are not mission critical (mostly personal and friends/families sites).
Is the process as simple as logging into the now receoverd VM's DA panel, and doing a full backup of that user account...then copying that file over to the new server and importing it?
Finally, once I have all the accounts exported/imported I just need to change my DNS pointers and I'm good I think.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to make this happen effeciently.
