Apache Web Site User Directory asking for password

I can't seem to access web site accessible user directories because of pop-up with the apache auth dialog.

mod_userdir seems to be working, but it asks for a password via mod_auth. But the user/pass doesn't seem to be related to that user (or any user).

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/~username
Pop-up auth box (no idea what password is, have tried user's and root)

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/
Also pop-up auth box (I think it maybe related).

It's a shared IP across all users. I'm guessing there's a config setting somewhere, but I'm not familiar with the particulars of Directadmin's apache configs.

Essentially I want the web site accessible directory to be passwordless so when users click the link in the welcome email it works for them.

Looks to be only on the primary server IP that apache auth login is required. Any other domain or IP don't require a login for user directories. So as long as there is a secondary IP you can use that. Which makes the new account email incorrect.

Not a really a fix, just a work around.

Hello,

By default Directadmin does not set anything of the kind. So it must be a customization somewhere on your server.
Try and start searching in /etc/httpd/conf/

Yes, that was it.

Turns out I had inadvertently created an auth while configuring munin. Took grep to find the right conf and what had happened.
