Hello...

I made a cross threaded post in the SpamBlocker 3 form. Basically asking about the ETA of SpamBlocker 3. You can see it here:
http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=108079#post108079

But since that keeps getting pushed back and back. I can no longer wait and need to do somehthing.

Here is the part asking about SpamBlocker 2 in DA:

I have not tried the RC or beta, actually I don't even know where to download the latest and if it is ready for a small productin server (about 30 domains).

Or maybe my SA and SpamBlocker2 settings (RBL's, etc) and exim are not setup the best they can be. I have an excellent managed server so I am not as hands on as maybe I should be, but I really need to lessen the amount of SPAM my clients are getting and complaining about. I also do not have any AV setup.

Since SpamBlocker 2 has been out a while and I have seen countless postes about how to improve it and the exim file. What is the most popular and "best" setup working now, so that I can set mine up like that until either SpamBlocker3 or ASSP X for DA is out.

Here is what versions I have on my server:
SPAM Blocker Resolve-IT Plugin 1.9.0
SPAMBlocker exim.conf 2.0
RBLs:
http://www.spamhaus.org/
http://www.ordb.org/
http://www.sorbs.org/
http://www.spamcop.net/
http://www.njabl.org/
http://cbl.abuseat.org/

I can send (or post) parts of my exim if needed. I did not do it initially as 1 I am sure it needs to be upgraded (which will not allow the Plugin to work) and 2 I would think parts should not be posted due to a security risk, etc.

Thank you all very much...

As I wrote in your other thread, SpamBlocker2.1.1 is the most recent stable version and it works very well. The only feature missing from it is the ability to run ClamAV at SMTP time from within exim.conf, without needing a separate program.

SpamBlocker3 will add that, and may add additional functionality as well. Additionally SORBS has announced some changes to their published blocklists and we're watching that as well.

You should probably contact Resolve-IT for information on the SpamBlocker Plugin, to see what version(s) of SpamBlocker run with their plugin.

Jeff...

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I am still running the 2.0 release. You said 2.1.1 is included in DA, so I must not be running the latest for whatever reason. So I will have them upgrade that for me.

I noticed another plugin available for 2.1.1 and looks like the beta for 3.0:

http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16451

That may be looking into.

I will keep an eye out for your SpamBlocker3.

Thanks again Jeff...

Maybe I should be a bit more specific. SpamBlocker 2.1.1 exim.conf file is included in the newest DA installs; exim.conf is never automatically updated. You'll have to update it yourself. When you do be sure to read the instructios for what files you have to create (if any) and what instances of example.com you may want to replace.

Jeff...

Yes I saw that. I upgraded to the latest DA and SB2.1.1.

Seems a little better so far.

I have a question that I searched and could not really find an answer for. I think it should be a new post in this SpamBlocker 2 forum. It is regards to the "sender verification" part.

Thanks again Jeff!

Turning off SpamBlocker per domain

I have searched this forum for hours with no answer.

Is their a way to shut spamblocker off on a per domain/user basis?

I have a client that wants all email in this email box unfiltered.

Yes.

The default setup of SpamBlocker installs it but leaves it turned off.

To turn it on, you put the domain name (one to a line) into your /etc/virtual/use_rbl_domains file. To turn it off for a domain, you delete the domain name from that file. Nothing needs to be restarted.

Caution: before you do this make sure that /etc/virtual/use_rbl_domains isn't just a link to /etc/virtual/domains. If it is, then you have to delete the link and recreate the file.
