Can't create backups permission error ( 1.50.1)

Keep getting these errors on backups (Admin user):

Error Compressing the backup file user.admin.nisse.tar.gz : /bin/tar: backup/nisse_1.dump.log: Cannot open: Permission denied
/bin/tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

Have tried running the permissions script but that doesn't help.

This occurred after upgrade (Custombuild 2)

When i use the set_permissions script i get:

chmod: cannot access `/home/nisse/backups/*': No such file or directory
chown: cannot access `/home/nisse/user_backups/*': No such file or directory

Seems the backups are created but there is a folder called "non_readable_files" and it contains the domains logs directory with log files?... Why?

Check server logs, free disk space, run the backup process in a debug mode... search the forums and help articles for similar posts and possible solutions.
